Cream-like Clay that delivers

Fantastic performance from the Forte series again. This clay is notably smoother to scoop and apply than the OG texture clay, but still offers great texture, matte finish and a high hold. It lasts at least 8 hours on a single scoop.

Awesome product

My hair type is essentially fine and straight. I have a crew cut at the moment. The Chrome Clay actually works extremely well. It holds my style in place pretty much all day. I don't use a lot of it. I am in Albuquerque NM, so it is really hot — the product is working well and not really being affected by the heat.

Excellent clay

Feels super buttery, not hard like the texture clay. Not super difficult to remove with water, unlike the texture clay. Excellent hold all day.

Will it work on fine or thinning hair?

Yes. Chrome Clay is lighter than the Extreme Hold Texture Clay, so it holds a style without dragging finer hair flat. Reviewers with fine, straight hair and crew cuts report all-day hold using less than a nickel-sized amount. Start small and build up.

Does it actually wash out?

In one wash. The formula is water-based and uses rice bran wax rather than a heavy beeswax, so it lifts out with a normal shampoo instead of surviving the shower and building up over the week.

How is this different from the Texture Clay?

Same matte finish, easier to live with. Chrome Clay scoops soft straight from the jar, spreads without tugging and rinses out in a single wash. The Extreme Hold Texture Clay still edges it on raw hold, so pick that one if maximum grip matters more than easy application.

Will it flake or leave a white cast?

It shouldn't. Warm it fully between your palms until it turns translucent before it touches your hair. Clay applied cold and undistributed is the usual cause of any visible residue.
