Spring style tips to AVOID at all costs - and what to do instead

Hey,

Spring is in the air and with it comes a whirlwind of fresh fashion advice. We’re all being bombarded with spring styling tips and outfit recommendations from all corners and it gets overwhelming pretty fast. If you’re finding it hard to sift through the sea of suggestions and find the right advice for your spring wardrobe…

Don’t worry we got you.

At Team Forte, we pride ourselves on staying on top of the latest fashion trends and keeping you up to date with the best style advice out there. So we’ve braced the ever-growing list of spring fashion articles and newsletters and compiled the worst styling advice on the market.

If you’re considering a wardrobe rehaul, make sure you’re not falling victim to these tips.

1. Wearing These “Controversial” Shoes

Despite what you may see on Instagram, the Forte team are adamant that Crocs are a huge fashion faux-pas. We know spring’s about keeping the outfits light and breezy but Crocs are some of the worst picks out there. There’s not a single man who could pull off Crocs and come out looking fancy. If you want to feel the breeze on your toes, go for slides or even better, slip-ons.

2. Wearing Beachy Jewelry

Accessories can truly make or break an outfit. Whether you're looking to add a pop of color or a touch of elegance, the right accessory can take your look from basic to stunning. Unfortunately, there’s no excuse for wearing beaded, threaded jewelry that looks like you haggled it off a Shaman offering spiritual ‘cures’. Go for modern and minimal pieces like pendants, chains, or a steel bracelet if you’re serious about your jewelry.

3. Choosing The Wrong Prints

You know the ones we’re talking about. Shirts printed with such fervor and aggression they feel more like camo wear than spring fashion. Or those tie-dye shirts that looks like a unicorn threw up on it.

For a perfect spring fashion shirt, remember: less is more. Opt for a warm, laid-back shirt with subtle prints or patterns that add just the right amount of interest. We’re talking about light prints with cool-colored detailing and interesting patterns.

4. Overheating just to look “stylish”

This might work for the gents who reside in colder regions where spring is just code for ‘mild winter’. In general, however, layering using topcoats and vests is just a bad move. Layering is key to a good spring outfit and there are far better options than having to resort to your fall wardrobe. Layer using plain or vertical line cotton shirts. Flannels are still fair game.

At Team Forte, we want our readers to feel confident and inspired when it comes to their fashion choices. That's why we've compiled this list of bad style advice to avoid this spring. By steering clear of these mistakes, you can ensure that your wardrobe stays fresh and on-trend.

May you enjoy the season and all the fabulous fashion it has to offer!
