Secret Summer Travel Locations (The internet doesn’t about these yet)

Maldives, Miami, Mykonos..What’s common among all these locations? They’re all amazing summer holiday destinations starting with an ‘M’ but they all have one problem. Everyone knows about them.

Visiting popular holiday spots is problematic.

  • The cost of holidaying is too high.
  • They’re jam packed with tourists.
  • They don’t feel unique anymore.

Thankfully, the world is vast. You can escape the crowds by booking a trip to one of these untapped locations that provide both beauty and adventure.

  • Cuenca, Ecuador
  • Cuenca’s a relatively small city that packs a mighty punch. Brimming with culture and beautiful architecture, its warm weather and lack of tourist crowds makes it an amazing summer location. You can be assured you’ll come back with beautiful pictures and artistic handicrafts.

Cuenca was declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1999 for its picturesque scenery. If you’re looking for tranquility, beauty and good food, Cuenca is the perfect destination for you.

  • Sidi Bou Said, Tunisia
  • Sidi Bou Said’s whitewashed buildings and mediterranean beachfront are reminiscent of Santorini, Greece. Thankfully you can enjoy this charming town without the hassle of crowds and overpriced lodgings. The town sits just half an hour outside Tunisia’s capital and is a great place to enjoy the Mediterranean waves in peace.

  • Karpathos, Greece
  • While cities like Mykonos and Santorini compete for tourist attention, you can relax in the near deserted beaches of Karpathos greece. The island is just 4 hours away from Rhode via Ferry and is a gorgeous place to holiday in.
Accompanying the beaches is a mountain village that’s like a blast from the past. The architecture is traditional and most of the traffic is on donkeys. If you want a break from urban life, this island is for you.

  • Sao Tome and Principe
  • If you’re looking for an African trip, look no further than the nation of Principe. Those of us fond of ecology will love this location for its tropical forests and enchanting flora and fauna. There are tons of beaches, bays and jungles to explore. Activities are all nature based like looking for turtles, bird spotting, staying overnight in tents and enjoying fresh catch for dinner. Plus there’s even historical churches to hunt for that are hidden throughout the islands.

If you’re looking to scratch that explorer itch within you, catch a flight to Principe.

  • Ladakh
  • The Himalayas are a great location to explore in summer because the cold’s bearable and the springs have melted. The Himalayan kingdom of Ladakh is perfect for that since it’s still a relatively unexplored and untouched location. Situated at an average altitude of 11,500 feet, Ladakh is crisscrossed by four mountain ranges, The Great Himalaya, The Ladakh, The Zanskar and The Karakoram. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the Buddhist heritage of the region. Explore monasteries or catch a game of Ladakh Polo.

    It’s an escapist’s dream destination.

Cheap locations, no crowds and beautiful sights to see. What more could you ask for? Visit at least one of these locations this summer. Who knows, you might just become a trendsetter among your circles.
