Remember how different social dynamics were back in the 2000s? Social media was just a new way of communicating with each other. If you were a charismatic popular guy back then, you had to be outgoing and interesting. Now in 2023, apps like Instagram have changed the game.

Our profiles went from blank accounts to personalized portfolios. If there were such a thing as a resume for your personality, your Instagram profile would be a close match. The normalization of social media profiles raises an even bigger question that's not asked as often as we'd like. 

What if someone doesn’t like the idea of a personal profile? Those of us who're introverts and private by nature would rather not put everything on social media. We prefer to keep certain aspects of our lives away from the internet.

However, the way the world stands right now, blank profiles are code-word for boring. And we don’t want that to happen now, do we?

So The Forte team got our team of social psychologists together (😄) and came up with an alternative strategy. A way to play the social game in your favor AND introduce charisma to the playing field without relying on social media. Let us show you how.

First off, What is charisma?

Charisma is a compelling and attractive quality that is often described as a magnetic charm or presence that draws people in. Charismatic individuals tend to exude confidence in their interactions, which can make them highly persuasive and captivating.

Those of us who are extroverts establish this context via Instagram. Here’s what to do instead.

Build a sense of mystery around your life. Since you’re not posting much, (naturally) it’s gonna get people curious. To get your mystery act up and running, the next step is to delve into your stories every once in a while in public settings.

But not too often, because that'll ruin the game. When the context is one of mystery, curiosity enters the mix. Curiosity is a powerful drug and it'll intrigue everyone. So when you suddenly go into an interesting story, the attention on you will be exponential.

By playing your cards close to your chest and revealing them sparingly, you can establish an enigmatic context. Those who know about your life will want to know more. Those who don't know will either ask others or assume. All ultimately building up to your reputation.

All this will help add to your charisma every time you hold a conversation. But keep one thing in mind.

For this strategy to work, you need to make sure you have things going on. No one, not even extroverts, can fake charisma. You must live an exciting life that puts you in an adventurous context. Whether you post about it or not is ultimately your decision in the end.
